“You have to remain strong. That’s the kind of filmmaker I want to encourage. Orson Welles was the one who said, you know, you can learn anything you need to know about filmmaking— that’s camera, sound, celluloid, video at this point— in four hours. It has nothing to do with anything. It has nothing to do with it… It has to do with what you want to say. If you...

Thoughts on this year's Oscars
It seems the collective buzz is that this year’s Oscars was a bust (see Rolling Stone, Roger Ebert, Hollywood Reporter). Not so much in the realm of who won and who lost, there will always be disagreement there (ahem, Tom Hooper for Best Director), but in the overall presentation. I would agree. While I don’t expect James Franco or Anne Hathaway to be invited back as hosts anytime...

I’ve got a great idea. Why don’t we all watch the Oscars and while we’re all watching the Oscars, we should tweet about. Ok. Go!

Ah, you’re dog wears a Burberry sweater. Sound investment. Certainly its own coat couldn’t stand up to the 40 degree temperature.

The aspect one cannot argue is nutrition: Incredibly, the McDonald’s product contains more sugar than a Snickers bar and only 10 fewer calories than a McDonald’s cheeseburger or Egg McMuffin. (Even without the brown sugar it has more calories than a McDonald’s hamburger.)
The bottom-line question is, “Why?” Why would McDonald’s, which appears every now and then to try to persuade us that it is...

Red Band Trailer: Bad Teacher.
I’m not sure how this movie is going to be sold with regular trailers since the majority of the laughs come from hearing Cameron Diaz say the F-word a lot.
Still, it looks enjoyable enough. What really gives me hope is that it’s from director Jake Kasdan, whose previous film, Walk Hard, is one of the more under-appreciated comedies of the last decade.

Yesterday I had a dream that I received a Valentine penned by Cormac McCarthy himself.

Excerpt:
From Dov S-S Siemans
The first is, “Writers write and thinkers think.” The point being if you want to be a writer you must actually move your fingers. You can’t write without writing. If you are being paid to think then that’s a really good lifestyle and I think you should continue it. However, your financial situation may dictate that you must write it yourself. But...

Here is the latest ARMD, staring the fabulous Shannon Coffey!
This is so good.
I didn’t realize how funny it was going to be when I started watching it. AWESOME.
It’s like Tim & Eric had sex with a unicorn and gave birth to that guy that starred in the title role alongside Val Kilmer in the epic 80s film “Willow”.
