Shel Silverstein’s Unlikely Rise to Kid Lit Superstardom

(via jbishop)

Shel Silverstein is a longtime hero of this guy.  His books really shaped my childhood and adolescence.  And, he wrote songs for Johnny Cash.  I mean, the man is legend.  I can honestly say that his quirky satire and dry humor mixed with oddball drawing has had a direct impact on my literary and artistic tastes.

And he’s not a fan of college, “I didn’t get laid much. I didn’t learn much. Those are the two worst things that can happen to a guy.”  I hate “higher education”.  Bah.
